eilean donan sits where three sea lochs meet, a few miles from dornie on the road to skye. everyone stops. everyone takes the same photograph from the car park. i stopped too, more than once, and came away with two that i'd put on a wall.
k e e p
the castle and its stone bridge, with the hills of kintail behind. this is the one people mean when they say eilean donan. it comes from a4 up, and the 100×70cm supersize is a limited edition of fifty. once those are gone, that size won't be printed again.
g u a r d
the castle at low tide, with the loch bed showing and the hills lit behind it. quieter, less postcard, and the one i'd choose for a room you actually sit in.
which to hang
k e e p is the statement: it wants a hallway, a stairwell, the wall opposite the sofa. g u a r d is softer and goes in a bedroom or a study. together they hang well side by side at the same size, which is why they're priced the same.
the print
both are printed to order on ilford cotton textured giclée paper, a heavy matte paper with a little tooth to it, which suits stone and water better than a gloss. sizes from a4 at £20. tracked delivery anywhere.
